Country Star Gets Divorce Papers After Cancer Diagnosis

It’s not a good time to be Eddie Montgomery. The Montgomery Gentry singer says he was served divorce papers only two weeks after announcing he’s suffering from prostrate cancer. According to his publicist, Eddie’s wife Tracy called him Tuesday night to ask what he was doing (answer: eating at the restaurant he owns with his 23-year-old daughter). Not long after, the filings showed up at their table—which we’re pretty sure wasn’t his order. “U find out u got cancer then u found out ur wife can’t handle that so she seek of and files for a divorce,” he tweeted (and since deleted). “merry christmas.”
“She says she?s a Christian wow,” he continued. “I think I need to get her a bracelet what would Jesus do cause I hope he still here with me.” Tracy, who has four children with the “If You Ever Stop Loving Me” singer, denies telling her husband that she “can?t deal with the stress of someone going through cancer” as he claims. “Eddie?s cancer had absolutely nothing to do with my decision,” she explained to a Kentucky TV station. “It?s what the public doesn?t know that finalized an extremely difficult decision that I was forced to make.” Tracy has asked to keep the matter private, and Eddie has yet to tweet since.
